Zaid Jaber is the CTO and Co-Founder of Vortex App, a Laval-based technology and cybersecurity business. Prior to his move to Canada in 2013, Jaber’s head offices were located in Kuwait, but he began building the company over time here in Canada. By 2016, the business had moved into its location on Curé-Labelle.

With more and more businesses needing to compete in a digital commerce arena, Vortex App creates solutions for all types of businesses, no matter their size. “We are one of the few Montreal companies that do augmented reality technology, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, etc. Our specialty is apps,” says Jaber.

Marco Mr. Tam Tam, an internationally known musician, is the official Brand Ambassador for Vortex App. “I’m proud to be a part of a company that offers unparalleled service in the ever-changing world of technology,” says the musician.

Becoming Global Players
In addition to their Laval office, they have offices in Tunisia, the Middle East and soon in Quatar. The company boasts 24-7 customer service via e-mail or by phone, with a team of approximately 50 spread out between Canada, Ukraine, China and Kuwait.

Though the company’s speciality is building apps, they are very much involved in cybersecurity solutions. “Our team can come in to your business and check your network’s security from A to Z and make all the necessary changes you’d need to ensure your business is fully protected,” says Jaber.

Why Would Your Business Need an App?
According to Jaber, the average consumer spends more than four hours a day on their smartphone, and an app for your business allows you to leverage that fact. “In the past, a website was like the first handshake with your potential client, but now, it’s an app,” says Jaber. “An app helps a business increase their visibility once they can be seen in Apple or GooglePlay, for example, and more visibility means more customers and more sales,” says Jaber.

Any business can benefit from having their own app. Jaber points to e-commerce as an example. Whether your business sells clothes or food or even digital products, to sell online you’d likely have to set up a third-party application on your website for e-commerce, and then pay a fee to that third party for each transaction, which, according to Jaber, can cut into your sales by as much as 30 per cent. Conversely, by having your own app with e-commerce capabilities, your clients can make purchases directly from the app on their mobile phone, and you avoid costly fees associated with more traditional website e-commerce setups.

Reach More Customers Quickly
Jaber explains that due to stricter anti-spam laws in recent years, it has become harder for businesses to send direct messages to potential clients, such as through SMS. E-mail marketing can be long and tedious to build up over time, but having an app allows potential customers to simply download your app, and in matter of seconds, you can legally send push notifications and reach thousands of people about a current promotion or sale your business is having.

Jaber says that Vortex App offers bundles and solution for any sized business. “Our clients retain full control of their website and app, so they can change things any time they like,” he says.
