While there’s no shortage of good eats in Laval and Montreal, the owners of the new LìOLà Pizzeria wanted something different – to bring a whole new meaning to Napolitan pizza, and family dining in the city.

This past July, husband and wife team Matteo Fiorilli and Anna Giampà celebrated the opening of LìOLà Pizzeria in Laval. The couple are long time entrepreneurs, with experience in everything from manufacturing to real estate. Their latest venture is a unique twist on the classic Napolitan pizzeria. With extraordinary ingredients, a family-friendly feel, and its very own amaro bar – with over a dozen Italian amaro liqueurs – LìOLà stands out among the crowd.

The 4420 Boul. Lévesque Est property is unassuming at first glance, but one look at the waterfront view is all it takes to fall in love with this place. Everything – from the location to the menu – takes on a truly authentic Italian feel. “We were inspired by the beautiful places we’ve seen in our travels,” Giampà says.

While the couple have their hands full with several projects and business ventures, they wanted to create something meaningful – something that represented their own core values. "This project came from our love for food and the importance of sharing our table with the people we love,” Giampà says. They wanted a place that felt like family to both staff and customers. “Anyone who is part of the business is part of our family,” Giampà says. Family is at the heart of this couple’s restaurant, which is why they have also included a Kids’ Corner. Giampà says kids can have loads of fun while parents enjoy their pizza, sip some wine, and take in the waterfront view. “We want families to feel welcome here,” Giampà says.

Fiorilli explains where the restaurant’s name comes from. Directly translated from Italian, “Lì-O-Là” means “here or there”. To Giampà and Fiorilli, it means customers may choose to eat here or there, but they will always come back to the place where they feel most at home. “We want this experience to be fulfilling for our customers,” Fiorilli says.

When it comes to the menu, you’ll find several special pizza toppings sure to make your mouth water, including shrimp, fresh avocado, prosciutto and melon, and more. “I grew up with an appreciation for fine food,” Giampà says. “We only use premium, high quality ingredients.” Plus, the restaurant’s master pizzaiolo, Alessandro Mosca, is a regular participant and recent winner in Guinness World Record pizza competitions. Mosca, a partner in the restaurant, has coached the LìOlà team on everything pizza-related, from preparing traditional Napolitan pizzas to creating extraordinary combinations you’ve never seen before.

Regularly, patrons can take advantage of LìOLà’s Sip n’ Savour Evenings – where the purchase of a drink will also get you a tasting menu of some of the restaurant’s most popular pizzas. For more information, visit www.liola.ca.
