Located on Chomedey Boulevard in Laval, Arbour Volkswagen’s value comes from the quality of its customer service. We interviewed Stéphanie Arbour, General Manager and granddaughter of the dealership’s founder, to learn more about Arbour Volkswagen and its exceptional vehicles.

A Family Business
The story began in 1952 when Ovila Arbour founded Arbour Automobile. At the time, the dealer represented the American Motors brand. In 1971, Arbour acquired the Volkswagen brand. The business has remained in the family ever since, with Ovila’s grandchildren, Stéphanie and Sébastien, currently managing it. One location on Chomedey Boulevard and a second at Complex 440 is also managed by Raul Simon, Stéphanie Arbour’s husband.

When asked about the core values of the company, Stéphanie Arbour talks about the importance of the quality of her customer service. “Arbour Volkswagen aims to offer a turnkey service, without hiding anything. We want to give the clearest and most efficient service. We want to be as transparent as possible in the sale of our vehicles to ensure the satisfaction of our customers. This is what we have been doing for 50 years now, and we still have a large customer base.”

Customer satisfaction is the key to the company’s success. “We strive for exceptional customer service, but we also care about the well-being of our employees. Sixty people work in each of the Arbour Volkswagen locations in Laval, and many have been there for a long time,” Arbour explains. “For example, on the management team, the youngest has 13 years of experience and the oldest has 35. So we have a management team that has a lot of experience behind them and who know their market well. We like to tell ourselves that our employees are family.”

Expanding to Offer Even More
To continue improving the quality of its customer service, Arbour Volkswagen has decided to expand three specific departments with an investment of $3 million. “We have expanded in two phases. We began by expanding the workshops of aesthetics and mechanics. Everything is new and on the cutting edge of technology with new equipment. We can better respond to the demands and needs of our customers. For example, since March 1, we now have the option of cleaning all our customers’ vehicles at the service department at no extra cost,” Arbour explains.

Phase two recently begun in April 2019. “It’s about the facility on Chomedey Boulevard where we invested $8 million for its expansion, which had not been done since 2000. Inside, 35 to 40 cars on demonstration will now be accessible to customers. In addition, we have expanded the reception area, tripling its size. All our guests will also be able to park themselves inside the reception area.”

Family Vehicles Adapted to Your Needs
Which vehicles meet the needs of Laval families most? Sccprding to Arbour, it’s the 2019 Tiguan and the 2019 Atlas. With three rows of seating, they can accommodate the whole family. These are two practical and safe vehicles. According to the Volkswagen website, “the Atlas offers 2,741 liters of cargo space when the second and third rows are folded flat. Both vehicles offer optional 4MOTION® AWD. This instantly redirects power to the wheels that need it most. The snow mode helps the engine maintain fewer revolutions per minute, which prevents a quick transfer of power to the wheels, allowing better traction and avoiding skidding.”

In December 2019, there will be a grand opening for the refurbished location. You can see the new Arbor Volkswagen showroom where both new and used vehicles will be presented. Plus, you’ll get a first-hand look at the new department of technical service. Whether you are a loyal follower of Volkswagen cars or a new customer, Arbour Volkswagen employees will be able to guide in making the right choice for your next vehicle.
