Wellness and spirituality go hand in hand. If the mind is focused and clear, the body follows through and also brings about a synergy of positivity, balance, and a feeling of emotional stability.

Meditation is key to calming the body and mind, as it can help the body relax, while helping the mind focus on a particular goal, improve memory, and also reduce negatives like stress, anxiety, and depression.

Most beginners of meditation may find it hard to settle their mind. It may be very difficult, at first, to steer free of clutter and fearful thoughts. One act of meditation is spiritual visualization. This is where a person can actually see and envision a certain outcome, hope, or dream, and feel it into existence. Despite that, it is not used as a tool of religious practice, but rather as a form of wellness and self-healing.

Spiritual visualization also allows you to feel connected to others. Light is often the term used to connect us with people. Sound healing could also be used to still the mind, as it can serve as an aid to the spiritual visualization.

David Lacopo, is a spiritual meditation guide and expert, who provides the basics of meditation. He recommends that meditation can be done in two steps. “A person is advised to begin by taking three deep breaths before starting the meditation. It is important to breathe through our stomach and not through our chest. Breathing is the first step.  The second is rhythm counting in our mind at our own pace. Count to four by steadying the breathing. Never force the breathing. Breathing in counting to four and breathe out to four.” No pauses in between.

For seasoned pros, perhaps advanced meditation is the way to go. In this method, individuals are asked to hold their breath and count to four, then exhale to the count of four.  Despite the great effects that meditation has on the mind and body, Lacopo, explains that the act of doing it is not time consuming at all. “Meditation doesn’t have to be more than 10 minutes a day. Start with a cycle of three reps, in and out, once you are comfortable, work your way from two, to five to 10 minutes a day.”

Modern day wellness, the feeling of mindfulness, as well as being aware of certain desires and ambitions is fulfilling, and creates a link between our sub-consciousness and conscious mind. Once you picture the goal, there is a form of clarity and you are synced with what the inner ego craves. There is a form of clarity to fulfill your spiritual purpose. Clarity is imperative to feeling happy and balanced.

Some people may turn to spirituality as a way of truly understanding themselves, as people who feel complete often know exactly who they are and where they want to be.
