As parents we are constantly planning ahead. Whether we’re working or not, we want to make sure that are kids are having fun, doing safe and educational activities and eating well. In January, we start to get bombarded by early registrations from local spring camps to remind us that spring break is just around the corner- yikes! Seeing that vacations may be limited this year due to COVID-19, it’s time to start planning, especially if we don’t want to be stuck with no spring break plans for the kids. So why should you send your child to spring camp?

Make New Friends & Socialize
Organized activities are an excellent way of ensuring that your child is occupied and having fun throughout the week. Choosing a spring camp is an excellent way to get your child to socialize outside of a school setting with their peers and learn how to make friends that share common interests.

Most Extracurricular Activities Offer Themed Camps
Moreover, if you choose to send you child to a themed camp it’s the perfect occasion to choose an activity that your child would like to try out, such as a sports or music camp. That said, children that are already doing extracurricular activities after school or on the weekend may wish to attend the spring themed camp offered by their extracurricular activity provider, if available. This is also a safe bet that they will be with their friends from their extracurricular activities and will be able to spend more time doing what they love to do.

Get Them Off the Screen-time
Another reason to send your child to spring break camp is to allow your child to be active and participate in activities that are unrelated to technology. Sometimes, children tend to spend their vacation time at home on their devices and watching way too much television. Most parents do want their child to have some down time during spring break because it should be a relaxing and fun time for them to disconnect from the routine. When children attend camp, they will get a chance to experience a day full of activities not involving screens.

Stuck in the House Bored – No Way!
2020 was the year of the never-ending spring break. Most children were stuck in the house bored due to the cold weather. This year, parents are aware that their children may not have a lot of opportunities to do as many activities in closed spaces as in previous years. The supply and demand for children’s activities may be limited due to the pandemic and safety regulations. Budgeting for a spring day camp may also help parents ensure that their children are having fun during spring break without going overboard on entertainment costs.
