Claudia Del Balso, editor of Laval Families Magazine, approached me about writing an article, after hearing that I wrote children’s book.

After some difficulty meeting each other which is the norm in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, she had the idea to open up my story by asking me questions via email. Her questions helped me write the article to convey my story as an author and illustrator.

I was born in Montreal, and I began my relationship with the arts at a young age, creating my own comics as a hobby and winning both my grade school and high school Art Awards. Later I received a Degree in Advertising Art and freelanced as a graphic artist, which led to the passion I have today. My love for all forms of art slowly evolved into an explosion of ideas which morphed to short stories for all ages.

I began with Spotless, a self-published book in which I illustrated and co-wrote in collaboration with my cousin, combining pieces of our childhood and my minds imaginative files of fantasy.

This enchanting children’s book tells the story of Ruby, a young girl ladybug hovering towards adolescence. Ruby’s mom wants to keep her safe, but Ruby needs more independence. With the help of Ruby’s kind father and a very cute boy next door, Ruby is about to spread her wings and discover a whole new world!

This story can relate to parents who are worried about their growing children and are wondering if they are giving them too much independence, or not enough; it’s also terrific for growing kids who love their families but want to venture out on their own just a little more.

This one-time collaboration was only a project or stepping stone to my love for this form of art and in turn into doing solo projects.

I presently work full time for the largest telecommunications company in Canada as a coach/trainer, as well as freelancing in all forms of art, from personalized work to commercial designs, writing, press kits, etc.

I hope anyone will enjoy a little bit of magic through reading my books and enjoying my illustrations, as well as my upcoming to be self-published release of Hero Day, which I produced video shorts interviewing everyday people from all facets of work and culture, to help explain and pass on my message. You can also read the blogs on my YouTube page which explains the struggle to get this first solo story going.

In Hero Day, any child as well as any adult will be able to find the positive side to tragedy, such as 9/11. You will see, by the wonderful artwork found inside how I add a touch of myself to every story and how anyone can become a hero.

Who’s your hero?
Read Hero Day and you will find yours.
