Based in Rawdon, Elderhelp is a non-profit community group which is more commonly known as Friday Friends. It consists of English-speaking seniors (65 and over) from the Lanaudière region.

The group meets every Friday, from September to June. For the low cost of $7.50, a homemade meal is offered along with adapted transport (within the Rawdon area), and the accompaniment of volunteers during the activities. An animator leads the group in an array of activities designed to promote physical and mental well- being. These activities include an hour of exercise to promote and preserve range of motion, flexibility and balance which are adapted to different physical abilities. Seniors benefit from mind-stimulating and memory games, crafts and reminiscing.

In addition, regular health and wellness information sessions are offered, advising them of the services available at the local, provincial and federal levels. Seasonal outings by bus also take place in the surrounding area.

The mission of Elderhelp of Lanaudière is to keep seniors in their home environment while offering the opportunity to socialize every Friday; this helps decrease isolation and foster independence.

In our 17th year of operation, we are proud to continue meeting these goals so that Anglophone seniors in our communities may age with confidence and in a safe environment. We are still welcoming new members, so please feel free to contact us at the coordinates below.

Meetings take place at the United Church Hall, 3253 4th Ave., Rawdon, QC.
