“We are cultivating the female change-makers our world so critically needs; the ones Miss Edgar and Miss Cramp envisioned over 109 years ago.”

Founded in 1909 by two trailblazing educators, Maud Edgar and Mary Cramp, Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s School (ECS) continues their legacy, believing that education is a powerful tool for social progress. Rooted in traditions of excellence and activism, and guided by the entrepreneurial spirit of our founders, an ECS education is forward-thinking in addressing the realities of our changing world.

Each ECS student has ownership over her learning process and is encouraged to believe that she is the biggest stakeholder in her education. We incorporate her voice and choice in co-developing her curriculum and learning path, with the goal of empowering her to become the most resilient, confident, and creative version of herself. We encourage her to ask why, believing the process of questioning is often more important to her understanding than the answer itself. Our innovative curricula offer opportunities for each student to address real-life issues and develop values-based solutions that are sustainable, meaningful, and impactful. In this way, we prepare our students to solve tomorrow's problems and create needed change in the world.

Our commitment to academic excellence is coupled with an emphasis on whole-girl wellness, supported by our integrated psychosocial program and enhanced by opportunities in athletics, the arts, and community service. Since the school’s beginning, our motto has been Non Nobis Sed Urbi Et Orbi, which translates to Not for ourselves alone, but for the city and the world. Grounded in this philosophy, we nurture in each student the responsibility to use her unique skills and talents to serve her community in our city and around the world.

Through bold leadership, courageous innovation rooted in research, and authentic engagement, ECS values and stewards each girl’s distinct journey.

We also offer a dedicated bus serves students from Laval. To learn more about ECS, including the application process and available scholarships and bursaries, visit ecs.qc.ca.
