Have you ever heard someone say that they enjoy looking for work or they like to do job interviews? Every time we ask this question, some people will shake their head while others will have a little laugh.  Looking for work can be stressful. There are many things which cannot be controlled, such as when the phone will ring or what the employer will ask during an interview.

The job seekers we meet in our office come from a variety of backgrounds. Every week, we accompany them on a journey of self-discovery regarding their capabilities and strengths, providing them a feeling of satisfaction and self-worth as the process goes along. Here, at Groupe Priorité Travail, professionals called Employment Counsellors are dedicated to providing personalized services adapted to each individual. Meetings are given in a private and respectful environment, which allow the participants to benefit from the best experience. Time will be spent to set a job objective which is realistic and attainable.

Employment Counsellors are experts of the labour market. They are masters at creating a resume adapted to the job force. Updated job search techniques will be taught. Participants who are uncomfortable using a computer will also be supported. The interview preparation is a crucial part of the process that should not be neglected. We often hear employers asking typical questions such as, “Tell me about yourself.” How would you answer it efficiently in a short period of time?  Time will be spent according to the need of every job seeker and a mock interview is offered. In between meetings, emotional support is provided. It is great to know that the Employment Counsellor will be available even after a job is obtained. The professional wants to make sure that every person has a pleasant integration, and the meetings can be continued if the participant is no longer working. Looking for a job often means other elements need to be well supported. During this process, Service Québec will be present to help financially.
